My journey as a Green Libertine with the Green Salon Collective

I'm beyond excited to announce I have been chosen as a Green libertine by The Green Salon Collective and I'm so thankful to the guy's at GSC for the opportunity!

I saw a video that founder Fry had posted on social media and nearly spat out my tea when he said the words "Today is the last day to get applications in" I scrambled to film a 2 minute video listing all the reasons why I think I should be chosen for the role. You can see my video on my instagram page highlights.

When listing everything I have done and do in my salon to be truly green I was actually really surprised I could hardly fit it all in and still missed some out!

I then received a call from Fry who outlined all the amazing plans for the year ahead and that was it, I was sold! All I had to do then was await to see if i had made the cut!

The next day in came the message I had been eagerly awaiting... I'd been selected!

I feel so passionately about creating a regenerative business, sure we can concentrate on being sustainable but if we're honest... do you want to sustain in a world thats drowning and burning at the same time?

I'm pushing further than that I want to add so much to my business that I actually start reversing the impact I'm making.

Did you know that hair salons have a significant carbon footprint due to the volume of waste products, energy consumption, and the use of chemicals?

Estimates suggest a carbon footprint of around 500kg per client before factoring in styling tools!

Everything I have done and do in my salon has been carefully thought about in an ethical way. I cover four key areas - Waste, Finance, Animal Exploitation & Community.

When sourcing new suppliers I really look at their credentials to see if they're a right fit and B-Corp Green Salon Collective slots in perfectly!

So what does being a Green Libertine entail? Well essentially I'm an ambassador, I'm here to spread the green salon love, to highlight areas you may be able to improve in your business or even home.

I will attend regular meetings online with the rest of the green libertines, the GSC and industry experts and have access to exclusive insider updates about GSC and ethical industry trends.

I may also have the opportunity to write some articles which I'm super excited about... there's just something special about seeing your writing in print!

All this plus being a part of the wider ethical community.

I'm really looking forward to being part of the GSC and contributing to a larger movement towards regeneration.

Jen x
