I know its daunting coming to a salon for the first time and in a lot of cases this might be the first time for your child too, thats why it important to ensure your child is booked in to the right service for their curl type as every head of hair needs a little more in the way of care and attention.
For Children I have the following four services...
Little stars sparkle
For those under the age of 6 and all curl types this is a dry cut only. It's the perfect opportunity for us to tidy up those little curls that might be growing in the most weird and wonderful shapes. Its a perfect opportunity for us to talk about your child's routine and the care they need from you at home.
Moonbeam's Glow
For those with waves or curls aged 6 and over. As your child grows up their hair will change texture, usually around 5-7 years old and this is when we need to do a little more in appointment to ensure they get a good cut. It's also in this appointment when you'll be able to see just how to care for their hair at home, from washing to styling and drying the curls.
Returning moonbeams glow
For those who have already experienced a moonbeam appointment and have put all that education in place all you need to do is freshly wash, detangle, style and diffuse the hair before your appointment and the hair is cut dry. Its a great way for us to catch up and I can troubleshoot any issues you maybe having.
Little Blessed Light
This is for afro or tight curled little ones, the process is different and more time is needed for this appointment where I wash and detangle, style, dry under the heat hood then cut the hair. As always there will be lots of education about caring for your childs hair.
So what curl pattern does your little one actually have?
There used to be this thing called the curl pattern chart that labelled curls from 2a to 4c however this chart is unreliable as everyone has different curls on their head. We typically tend to group curls into the following areas...
Waves
Curls
Coils/Tight curls/Afro
If you dont know what curl pattern your little one has then please feel free to reach out with an image and i'll make sure you're booked in for the right appointment... Jen x
